The Guidelines for Operations Group (GO Group) works as part of CATS AI to provide guidance to the campus community to achieve the university’s mission for education, research, clinical care and service.

The GO Group will be the authority on establishing and maintaining guidelines (e.g., clinical, faculty, professional) and recommendations (e.g., research) to enable the university’s AI strategy to progress responsibly. In addition, the group will be responsible for requests for review by the CATS AI Subcommittees of proposed initiatives against approved guidelines and recommendations.

As a result, faculty, staff and students will discover tools available to help them become familiar with generative AI. Faculty will understand its applications and implications, especially in the areas of assessment design and detection.

Clinical Guidelines

The use of AI presents many areas of caution, particularly as it relates to clinical care settings. These guidelines and recommendations specifically address generative AI as a particular type of AI technology and a growing set of tools with increasingly multimodal capabilities.

Professional Guidelines

Because generative AI tools can be applied in any area, their effectiveness varies based on the type of work, the use case and other contextual factors. These guidelines synthesize the GO Group guidelines for instruction, research and clinical care, and additionally draw from AI literacy frameworks that inform them.
